STUDY OF FACTORS CAUSING HIGH MORTALITY OF CHILDREN IN MELGHAT REGION OF AMRAVATI (M.H.)

Melghat region is a part of Amravati District in the North Eastern Maharashtra. This region is hilly and is mostly covered with dense forest. The population of this region is almost rural and tribal and it mainly consists of" Korkus". This region has a severe problem of malnutrition and a large number of children have died and are still dying due to this. To review and understand, as well as suggest some solutions to this problem, which is an urgent need of today. Economic status plays a very important role to understand the economic status of a society. This economic status depends on the geographical situation and the prosperity is the result of resources available in the region. The economic factors like occupation, annual income, income of husband, income of wife, income of children, their domestic animals and monthly expenditure on various heads and details of government aids etc. have been statistically analyzed in this paper. Hence an attempt is made to provide some solution to this problem of this region on the basis of Economical factors.
