Transmission Line Symmetrical Faults Protection System

Transmission line faults pose a serious threat to the electricity transmission and distribution system as it may result in damaging of transmission lines as well the electrical equipment at both the ends. In this paper, different kinds of transmission line faults are classified for the 3 phase transmission line system. These faults are identified and given to the proposed control method for the analysis and classification of these faults. The proposed technique is noticeably correct for the short and medium transmission line symmetrical faults and not for long transmission line faults. The transmission line model is simulated and worked in MATLAB/SIMULINK platform. The obtained results shows that a trip signal is given to the system to successfully isolate it from the faults.
